Visiting someone in prison

We understand how important visits are for prisoners and their families; it's an essential way to maintain important support networks and connections with loved ones.

We want to help you to have an enjoyable visit when you come to HMP Peterborough.

How to find us

Visits at HMP Peterborough

We offer social visits for our prisoners, as well as Purple Visits (virtual visits) to enable prisoners to have video calls with friends and loved ones. Legal visits are available, although we recommend that appointments are carried out via telephone or using our Video Conferencing Centre where possible.

Our visits halls are bright and airy, providing you a space in which to relax and enjoy spending time with your loved one.

You can purchase refreshments including crisps, cakes and soft drinks from the kiosk to enjoy during your visit.

Please note that the kiosks will operate on card only basis from 1 October 2026. Until this date, cash will be accepted.

Visitors will still need £5 cash for a locker - this is a refundable deposit.
